F.A.Q. Q. What is Routing and Remote Access? A. On a Windows Server environment, it is better to share that connection with Routing and Remote Access to have the full capabilities of DNS, DHCP, and WINS.
Q. Why have an in-house Exchange Server? A. Because you can have synchronized mail from any machine, whether it is in you office of remotely from home. You can also check your mail from anywhere in the world from any web browser.
Q. Why do I need a Firewall and what kind do I need? A. If you have your own in house Exchange Server, your existance of your server needs to have a public IP address in order for email to find it. So the firewall you need must have a De-Militarized Zone or DMZ as well as a LAN side to hide your machines from the outside world. Firewalls protect ports and rename attachments that are malicious as well as allow Virtual Private Networking protecting your network from attacks.
Q. How much is all this going to cost me? A. By purchasing a small Business Server from Microsoft, you can have the benefits of having a Windows Server with all the capabilities of sharing your Internet connection as well as having your own email server.
