HullSoft supports Dell Servers because of the pride put into the building of their systems and for small businesses, the price is hard to beat.  For a small to medium size business, HullSoft recommends installing a Dell Power Edge 2600 Server with a Dual Pentium 2GHz or better with at least 1GB of RAM and a Raid Controller with at least 72 Megabytes of hard Disk Space.  Although technology changes at a moments notice, this will allow companies to secure their investment for more than the standard three year lifespan.  Purchasing two network cards, making the system multi-homed, allows this server to share it's Internet Connection to the world and firewalls the system to your Local Area Network.

Static Internet Protocol Numbers are expensive so why not share your server connection with all the computers in the office.  Using the above recommendation, you can control which users can have access to the Internet and which users have email.  Monitoring the use of your office machines is also supported by looking at the logs on the Server, so you can see where your users have been browsing.

Windows 2000 Server and Windows 2000 Advanced Server are the recommended operating system for your server.  Along with this environment, HullSoft also recommends an in house Exchange Server having email come right to your office.  This environment also supports users working from outside the office to Virtual Private Network right into their server and work from home, checking their email from any machine as well.  All you need is a Browser and your all set.
